It may be interpreted in any way you choose.<\/p>\n\n\n\nClosing date:<\/strong> Monday 3rd January 2022 (entries must be received by midnight).<\/p>\n\n\n\nWord limit:<\/strong> 2,500 words. This is an absolute limit. Your entry will be returned if you go over the limit. The entry must have a title, but this does not count towards the word total.<\/p>\n\n\n\nRules<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n\u00b7 Entries must be your original work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u00b7 Stories should not have been published, nor should they have previously won a prize in any competition, whether held by Cambridge Writers or any other organisation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u00b7 Only members may enter. Entry is free, but only one entry per member is allowed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u00b7 Entries must be submitted electronically, as two Microsoft Word files, one containing the story with title, but without the author’s name (please use double-spacing), and a second file giving the title and author’s name. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u00b7 Entries should be emailed to the Competition Secretary, Siobh\u00e1n Carew, at this address: siobhan.carew@cantab.net. Emails should have \u2018Short Story Competition\u2019 in the subject line. All entries will be acknowledged as having been received. If you don’t receive an acknowledgement, please check with Siobh\u00e1n.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u00b7 The competition will be judged by an external judge. Details will be announced in the Newsletter in due course.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Prizes:<\/strong> 1st prize \u00a3100, 2nd prize \u00a370, 3rd prize \u00a350.<\/p>\n\n\n\nIn addition, three entries will receive commendations. No entrant will receive more than one recognition in the form of either a prize or a commendation. The prize monies have been generously donated by the daughters of our late member Jocelyn Glegg, in memory of their mother.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Judging:<\/strong> Judging will take place on Tuesday 1st March 2022. The venue is to be announced. We strongly encourage entrants to attend, so that in the event of their receiving a prize or a commendation they can read out their work.<\/p>\n\n\n\nPublication:<\/strong> Subject to the entrant\u2019s approval, stories will be published in a book later in 2022. The copyright will remain with the author.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
