Jane started travelling seriously with an overland trip to the Himalayan region. She wrote letters home that slowly, over further trips and expeditions, evolved into more polished prose. Most of her writing has a travel theme: she is lucky enough to have two travel narratives, and three travel health guides in print.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She has also written a novel set in Nepal called \u201cSnowfed Waters\u201d which is published by Delhi-based Speaking Tiger. Her three wildlife-rich adventure stories for children aged 8 \u2013 12 are published by both Eifrig (Pennsylvania) and Vajra (Kathmandu). During 2020 Jane recorded \u201cA Glimpse of Eternal Snows\u201d as an audiobook. Cambridge Writers’ Francoise Hivernel, Stephanie Green, Sally Haisleden, Seeta Siriwardena and Jane published a travel anthology called \u201c50 Camels and She\u2019s Yours\u201d. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

A Glimpse of Eternal Snows (2012)<\/a><\/h5>\n\n\n\n

When Jane’s son, David, was diagnosed with life-limiting problems, his family opted to return to their home in remote Nepal, so that David might live life to the fullest and avoid invasive medical testing. Jane’s memoir tells of the family\u2019s time in Rajapur Island and Kathmandu. It vividly conjures the sounds, sights and smells of exotic bazaars, the warmth and complexity of the people and the great natural beauty of the country.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

How to Shit Around the World (2020)<\/a><\/h5>\n\n\n\n

It may sound like a collection of scatological humour, but is actually a guide to staying clean and healthy during more adventurous travel trips. Jane is a medical doctor, who has herself visited and worked in places where such advice is essential.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Staying Healthy When You Travel (2023)<\/a><\/h5>\n\n\n\n

This is a guide to health hazards abroad, useful without being hysterical. It describes what you can catch or pick up, how to avoid it and what to do if the worst happens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
